How it works
The scout goes ahead, watches the terrain, and reports back. Here is exactly what that means — including what we will never do.
What does the scout actually do?
You register items with the price your reference trader pays (trader price) and a margin — a percentage or a flat discount. TornScout sweeps the official Torn Item Market API continuously and, when a listing is at or below your target price, fires a message to your Discord webhook with the item, the lowest price, how many units qualify, the potential profit and a direct link to the market. Target prices always round up to a whole dollar, so what you see is exactly what the worker checks.
Does it ever buy, sell, or click anything for me?
Never.Automating in-game actions violates Torn's rules and gets players banned. TornScout is monitoring and alerting only: it reads the public market API and sends you a Discord message. Every request we make identifies the app to Torn staff via the API
comment parameter. Acting on an alert — opening the market, buying the item — is always you, in the game, by hand. How fast are the alerts?
The worker respects Torn's API rate limits (we stay around 80 requests per minute — below the official 100/min cap), sweeping every watched item in a loop. Each distinct item costs one request per sweep, no matter how many scouts watch it. In practice a deal is usually spotted within one or two sweeps. Fast — but not magic: someone camping the market with a twitchy finger can still beat you to a specific listing.
What API key do I need to sign up?
A Publiclevel key — the least-privileged kind Torn issues. We use it once during onboarding to confirm your player ID and name, then store it encrypted. It's never shown in the interface again and never used for anything beyond identification.
How do I pay?
In-game. Send the money for your chosen plan to Klauz [1883699]and your access is extended by the plan's days. Payments stack: pay twice, get two periods chained end-to-end. When your access expires, alerts stop but your watches and settings stay saved — renew and the scout picks up right where it left off.
Is there a trial?
Yes — new accounts start with a free trial (current length is shown on the home page). No payment needed to try it.
